What cultural exchange is
The purpose of the Resort Leaders program, and the BridgeUSA J-1 visa behind it, is cultural exchange. It's about more than working and traveling in America. It's experiencing American culture while sharing your own, and it's a requirement of your J-1 visa.
Sharing your culture
You're a representative of your home country during your program. Resorts bring together team members and guests from all over the world, so you'll have plenty of chances to share where you're from and learn about others. Talk about your country and traditions, teach your colleagues a few words in your language, share your food or music, and take an interest in the cultures around you. The friendships and connections you make are a big part of the experience.
Engaging in political activity
Resort Leaders strongly discourages you from taking part in any political activity or protests, or posting political statements or opinions on social media, during your time in the United States. The BridgeUSA program is supported across all political parties in the US and is a meaningful cultural exchange for Americans and international participants alike. Your visa sponsor and Resort Leaders are here to support you throughout your program.
Cultural differences are part of what makes the experience special. Take time to observe, listen, and enjoy sharing your own culture while learning from others.
