Extending your stay

What happens if your resort offers to extend your placement, and the contract, insurance, and DS-2019 updates you'll need.

Can I stay longer at the resort?

If your resort offers to extend your placement, it can be a great way to earn more and see the resort in a different season. Extensions aren't guaranteed and they must fall within the program dates set by the Department of State for your country.

What needs to happen if my placement is extended?

If you're offered an extension, three things need to be arranged:

  1. A new resort contract with the extended dates

  2. An extension to your insurance to cover the extra time

  3. An updated end date on your DS-2019

Your resort will also need to contact the Resort Leaders US office to coordinate the changes.

Do I need a new DS-2019?

Yes. If your placement is extended beyond the dates on your original DS-2019, you'll need an updated form, which your resort and Resort Leaders arrange together. Do not keep working past your DS-2019 end date without an updated form.
